UTStarcom's mSwitch® NGN products will be packaged with telent's technology services solutions to create a new Next Generation Network (NGN) solution set designed to specifically address the needs of UK operators in refreshing their existing networks and providing for the future deployment of multimedia services over packet-based access technologies.
Building on NGN successes in Europe and Asia Pacific, this strategic agreement enables UTStarcom to expand the reach and impact of its global mSwitch® solutions into the UK and Ireland.
"One of UTStarcom's first mSwitch® NGN deployments outside of China is with a tier one UK operator, so we already have a core regional solution that is transitioning operators' legacy core networks to the next generation IP based network," said Luis Dominguez, senior vice president of international sales, marketing and services at UTStarcom, Inc. "This alliance with telent will enable UTStarcom to deliver on the unique emerging needs of operators by building on incumbent customer relationships and developing an expanded presence in competitive markets such as Europe."
telent will combine its expertise in specific market sectors such as telecommunications with UTStarcom's advanced mSwitch® NGN product family to create solutions that can offer resilience of service and value for customers' investments.
"We are extremely pleased to have created this strategic alliance with UTStarcom," said Keith Higginbotham, general manager of telent's telco network services business unit. "This agreement allows us to further extend our network technology expertise in customer NGNs, and it highlights our growing relationship with added-value technology vendors such as UTStarcom.
